The Reality of Telda Tshechu 2023

The COVID-19 pandemic has left an indelible mark on communities worldwide. As the world slowly recovers from the devastating impact of the virus, many are eager to return to normalcy, especially when it comes to cultural and religious celebrations. However, in Dechheling Gewog, the annual Telda Tshechu has faced an unusual decline this time. The traditional mask dances, which are an integral part of this festivity, have been omitted, leading to concerns about the impact on the community's well-being and prosperity.
The Telda Tshechu is not just a festival; it is a sacred tradition that holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Dechheling Gewog. This annual event is a vibrant celebration of culture, spirituality, and community unity. At its core, the festival revolves around the performance of intricate mask dances, each of which carries profound religious and cultural significance. These dances are not mere spectacles; they are spiritual offerings that seek to appease local deities, bring blessings to the community, and ensure peace and prosperity in the region.

However, the Telda Tshechu has experienced a troubling decline this year. The mask dances, which have been performed for generations, were omitted from the festival program. This omission has raised questions about the festival's effectiveness in maintaining the harmony and prosperity of the Dechheling Gewog community. The consequences have been felt acutely, with an increase in misfortunes and a growing financial burden on the community.

One of the most noticeable impacts of the declining Telda Tshechu has been the financial toll on the community. The Deling Phendey Thsogpa, responsible for assisting families during times of bereavement, has faced a significant increase in semso contributions. Currently, the semso group is contributing for the demise of two beloved parents, doubling the financial burden compared to the past. This is not only disheartening but also a source of anxiety for the community members.

It is crucial to understand that the Telda Tshechu is not merely a cultural event but a spiritual practice deeply intertwined with the community's well-being. The mask dances and rituals are not optional; they are mandatory for pleasing local deities who play a pivotal role in bringing peace and prosperity to the locality. Neglecting these rituals can disrupt the delicate balance between the spiritual and material worlds, leading to adverse consequences.

In light of this decline, it is imperative that the head of the gewog and the festival organizers take swift and deliberate action. The restoration of the traditional mask dances and rituals is not just a matter of preserving cultural heritage but a means of ensuring the continued prosperity and well-being of the our community. The Telda Tshechu is more than just a festival; it is a lifeline connecting the people of our community to their spiritual roots and community prosperity. As the community comes together to address these challenges, we hope that the Telda Tshechu will continue to thrive, bringing peace, prosperity, and blessings to the community as it has done for generations.

This is not intended to defame anyone but rather to express the concerns of our public who wishes to see their community thrive. It is a call to duty, urging all residents to raise their voices for the betterment of their conduct. We must collectively unleash the power of positivity and cooperation to keep the essence of Telda Tshechu for our own benefit.
"May the Konchogsum and local deities, in their boundless compassion and wisdom, bless and protect us, the Serga Kholom community. May their divine guidance illuminate our path, fostering harmony, unity, and prosperity among us all. In their grace, may we find strength to overcome challenges and extend kindness to one another. May our bonds grow ever stronger, and may our collective journey be filled with peace, love, and enlightenment.
