This recount my experiences and contributions as a visiting examiner,
invigilator, test developer, marker, assistant chief marker, chief marker,
proctor, and curriculum reviewer in various educational institutions and
examination boards in Bhutan. Through these roles, I have had the privilege of
contributing to the development of Bhutan's education system and fostering
academic excellence. It highlights the significance and impact of each
role in promoting quality education and preparing the students for a bright
future.
- Visiting Examiner for Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment: As a visiting examiner for various schools, including Gaselo HSS, Wangduephodrang, Pelkhil School, Yangchenphu HSS, and Wangbama CS in Thimphu, Kuenga School in Paro, Punakha HSS, and Ugyen Academy in Punakha, and Chukha Center School in Chukha, my primary responsibility was to ensure the fair and standardized assessment of students' academic achievements. Through this role, I played an essential part in maintaining the integrity of the examination process and upholding the credibility of the Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment.
- Invigilator for Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment: As an invigilator for examination centers like Drukjegang CS and Tsashiding LSS in Dagana, Motithang HSS, and Dr. Tobgyel School in Thimphu, I played a crucial role in creating a conducive environment for students during exams. My duties included monitoring the examination halls, preventing any malpractice, and ensuring that students had a fair and peaceful atmosphere to showcase their knowledge and skills.
- Test Developer for Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment: Developing the class X Physics test for the Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment allowed me to contribute directly to the students' academic growth. Crafting well-structured and comprehensive test items that align with the curriculum and learning objectives was a challenging yet rewarding task. By designing tests that assess critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, I aimed to prepare students for real-world challenges beyond the classroom.
- Marker and Assistant Chief Marker for Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment: As a marker for classes X and XII and an assistant chief marker for class X, I had the privilege of evaluating students' examination scripts. Grading the papers accurately, consistently, and impartially was instrumental in recognizing students' efforts and accomplishments. Moreover, as an assistant chief marker, I actively contributed to the coordination and smooth functioning of the marking process, ensuring its efficiency and fairness.
- Chief Marker for Bhutan Council for School Examinations and Assessment: Being appointed as a chief marker for class X exams bestowed upon me the responsibility of overseeing the entire marking process. My role was not only to lead a team of markers but also to guarantee the accuracy and reliability of the grading system. Through my leadership and guidance, I aimed to uphold the highest standards of evaluation and contribute to maintaining the credibility of the examination system.
- Proctor at Jigme Singye Wangchuk School of Law: Serving as a proctor for the entry exam at Jigme Singye Wangchuk School of Law was a unique opportunity to support students' aspirations to pursue legal education. My role included supervising the examination process, ensuring fairness, and maintaining the examination's integrity. Encouraging a sense of confidence and focus among the candidates, I aimed to create an environment conducive to showcasing their legal aptitude.
- Curriculum Reviewer on Space Technology: Reviewing the curriculum on Space Technology for classes 9 to 12 at Rema Resort, Paro, allowed me to contribute to the diversification and modernization of Bhutan's education system. By ensuring the curriculum's relevance, coherence, and alignment with international standards, I aimed to empower students with contemporary knowledge and skills that can open doors to future opportunities.
My journey as a visiting examiner,
invigilator, test developer, marker, assistant chief marker, chief marker,
proctor, and curriculum reviewer has been immensely rewarding. Each role
presented unique challenges and opportunities to contribute to Bhutan's
education system positively. I firmly believe that fostering a culture of
excellence in education will pave the way for a brighter future for Bhutanese
students, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to face the
complexities of the world. Through my continued dedication and commitment to
education, I hope to inspire a new generation of learners and educators in
Bhutan.
