Journal Entry: The Last Day of the ITEC Program - December 12, 2023

December 12, 2023

Today marked the culmination of a month-long journey that transcended borders and cultures. The ITEC program, a collaborative effort to enhance knowledge and foster international cooperation, came to an end on this momentous 12th of December, 2023. The air was charged with a mix of excitement and nostalgia as we gathered for the final day's activities.

The day began in the early hours, under the supervision of the esteemed Professor Dr. KSA Dinesh. We were handed forms, a routine but necessary formality for the ITEC program, along with feedback forms that would serve as a testament to our experiences and the effectiveness of the program. These bureaucratic rituals were but a prelude to the main event - the Valedictory Function.

The stage was graced by the presence of the Director, Prof. Dr. Usha Natesan, of the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR). Before delving into the day's proceedings, let's take a moment to reflect on the illustrious history of Prof. Dr. Usha Natesan. With a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of technical education, she has been instrumental in steering NITTTR towards excellence. Her visionary leadership has contributed significantly to the institute's growth, making it a hub of innovation and learning.

The Valedictory Function kicked off with an overall report on the one-month ITEC program, presented by Professor Dr. Johnathan, a seasoned academician from NITTTR. His comprehensive overview encapsulated the essence of the program, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and the collective growth we experienced.

Following this, the Director, Prof. Dr. Usha Natesan, graced us with her valedictory wisdom. Her words resonated with inspiration, encapsulating the transformative journey we had embarked upon. It was a moment of reflection, where we absorbed the lessons and insights shared by a leader of her stature.

The much-anticipated moment arrived as certificates were awarded to each participant by the Director. The tangible proof of our successful completion of the program was a testament to our dedication and hard work. As Professor Dr. KSA Dinesh extended the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all involved, the atmosphere was charged with a sense of accomplishment.

The next agenda item brought a unique touch to the farewell – oral feedback from participants. Each of us had the opportunity to share our thoughts, express gratitude, and provide constructive feedback. It was a moment of openness and connection, bridging gaps and fostering a sense of community.

A closing photo session captured smiles, laughter, and the bonds forged during this intense month of learning. The images would serve as cherished memories, encapsulating the diverse group that had come together to share knowledge and culture.

In a unique tradition upheld by NITTTR, each participant was asked to write their feelings about the program in their own language. These personal reflections would become a part of the institute's records, a testament to the global impact of the ITEC program.

A farewell lunch was served, providing a final opportunity for camaraderie and shared moments. The tables were filled with a variety of cuisines, symbolizing the diversity that enriched our experience.

As the clock ticked towards 6:30 PM, the official end of the program, emotions ran high. Participants began to disperse, each batch bidding farewell in their unique way. Hugs, tears, and promises to stay in touch echoed in the air. It was an emotionally charged time, as the togetherness that defined the past month faced its inevitable end.

The departure process extended into the 13th of December, with participants leaving in batches. The pain of saying goodbye lingered, a testament to the deep connections formed in a relatively short span. The NITTTR campus, once vibrant with the energy of diverse cultures, gradually quieted as each participant embarked on their journey back to their respective countries.

Amidst the farewells, one figure stood out – Mr. Shankar, the caretaker of the guest house. His humble nature and unwavering support throughout our stay had left an indelible mark. Mr. Shankar never uttered a 'No' to any request, always ready to assist with a smile. To express our gratitude, the participants collectively offered him a cash gift amounting to Rs. 8400. "Thank you, Shankar," we said, hoping that his kindness would continue to touch the lives of those who cross his path.

Among the departures, one participant, Mr. Sulaimon from Niger, stood out for the intensity of his emotions. His heartfelt tears mirrored the collective sentiment of saying goodbye to an experience that had become a significant chapter in our lives. As each batch left, Mr. Sulaimon's presence remained until his turn to depart arrived.

And so, as the sun set on the 13th of December, the last batch bid farewell to the NITTTR campus. The ITEC program had come to a close, leaving behind a trail of memories, friendships, and a wealth of knowledge that would resonate in our lives for years to come. The bittersweet taste of farewell lingered, but the lessons learned and connections forged were destined to endure beyond the confines of time and distance.
