The Reality of Telda Tshechu 2023

The COVID-19 pandemic has left an indelible mark on communities worldwide. As the world slowly recovers from the devastating impact of the virus, many are eager to return to normalcy, especially when it comes to cultural and religious celebrations. However, in Dechheling Gewog, the annual Telda Tshechu has faced an unusual decline this time. The traditional mask dances, which are an integral part of this festivity, have been omitted, leading to concerns about the impact on the community's well-being and prosperity.

Celebrating a Decade of Blogging

Dear Beloved Readers,
Today marks a truly special milestone in my blogging journey. Exactly a decade ago, on October 2, 2013, I embarked on this incredible adventure as a novice blogger. Little did I know how this platform would evolve and become an integral part of my life.
As with any journey, there have been ups and downs along the way. Life's twists and turns sometimes led me away from my beloved blog, and from July 14, 2015, to July 31, 2017, I couldn't update it. But today, Facebook's timely reminder brought me back to my passion, reminding me of the joy and fulfillment that this blog has brought me over the years.

The Urgent Need for Upgrading Bhutan's Cultural Courtyards

Bhutan, often referred to as the "Land of the Thunder Dragon," is a nation steeped in rich culture and tradition. Among the many cultural celebrations that take place throughout the year, the annual tshechu holds a special place in the hearts of Bhutanese people. It is a time when locals and tourists alike gather to witness the vibrant displays of Bhutan's cultural heritage. One of the most iconic venues for this celebration is the courtyard at Tashichodzong in Thimphu, where people from all walks of life congregate to seek blessings and enjoy the festivities. However, despite its cultural significance, this cherished courtyard remains in dire need of an upgrade, and similar challenges persist at other venues like Changlingmithang. This article sheds light on the pressing need for improvements and a broader change in mindset to ensure that Bhutan's cultural traditions thrive and continue to enrich the lives of its people.

Celebrating the Birth of the Royal Princess at Babesa Higher Secondary School

Today was a day of immense significance and joy at Babesa Higher Secondary School as we had the honor of hosting the Prime Minister of Bhutan, Lyonchen Dr. Lotey Tshering, on the occasion of celebrating the birth of the royal princess. This event marked the first visit of the head of the state to our school under the leadership of our new principal, Sangay Wangpo, and the vice-principal, Tsering Tashi. It was a momentous day for the teachers and students of our school as we came together to celebrate the arrival of our prestigious royal highness, the princess.

The day's programs commenced with the recitation of Tashitsigpa Prayers, a deeply spiritual and revered moment that set the tone for the entire celebration. This was followed by the Zhabten, a prayer for the long and prosperous life of Her Majesty Jetshen Pema Wangchuk. The atmosphere was filled with reverence and devotion.

This momentous occasion unfolded within the prestigious confines of the RUB HALL, where my contingent comprised not only 21 erudite fellow students but also five accomplished colleagues from my school. Notably, our assembly was augmented by the presence of dedicated educators and students hailing from various schools under the aegis of Thimphu Thromde, adding a broader academic tapestry to this gathering of minds.
